Edinburgh have announced that Scotland back-row Grant Gilchrist has agreed to stay with the PRO12 side for next season.
The 25-year-old lock has been sidelined for the majority of the season due to a fractured arm – which he sustained in his only appearance this season, against Ospreys in Ferbuary.
Despite his irritation with the lack of game time, the former Lornshill Academy boy has expressed his delight with the contract extension.
"The last couple of years have been a frustration for me but I'm looking forward to being fully fit for pre-season," Gilchrist told the BBC.
"I'm really hungry to play for Edinburgh again and looking forward to giving my all.
"I'm delighted to be staying and really excited about next season."
The Stirling-born player has made over 70 appearances for Edinburgh since making his debut in 2011.
"This is the club I have grown up with. I came through the academy here and I've now been part of the first team for over five years," he said.
"I care a lot about the club and I really believe we've got the players and the culture at the club to have prolonged success."
