Gibson-Park suffers serious injury

Taranaki's pre-season win was marred by a serious injury to scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park in Otorohanga on Saturday.

Stuff report that Gibson-Park was carried off the field before half-time in the 35-10 win over Counties Manukau.

On Sunday it was confirmed that he suffered a leg break, undergoing surgery to have screws inserted into his fibula.

The news is significant for Taranaki as Gibson-Park was their number one scrum-half coming into the ITM Cup season and is now likely to miss the entire campaign.

Chiefs fly-half Marty McKenzie converted all five of Taranaki's tries in the pre-season meeting as last year's champions prepare to defend their title.
