Saracens hooker Jamie George was pleased his side's performance as they opened their Champions Cup campaign with a 32-7 win over Toulouse.
The triumph was built on a solid forward effort but the English side fell one try short of a bonus point, with Mako Vunipola and Chris Wyles (2) crossing.
George though refused to be downcast about that fact as he instead praised his team's effort at Allianz Park as they looked impressive on the day.
"We underpinned that performance in the first 40 minutes with our work-rate and our intensity. I thought we were outstanding and I think that was probably the best we could play. The set-piece went really well too," he told EPC Rugby's website.
"I think we maybe should have got a bonus-point, I think there are lessons we can learn as to why we were so good in that first 40 minutes but not so good after the break.
"We need to get better and be a lot more clinical after the break. We know we need to make sure we are switched on for what will be a big test at Ulster next week."
