Genia searching for consistency

Wallabies scrum-half Will Genia revealed that they are looking for consistency in their performance against Wales on Saturday.

Australia are coming off the back of a superb showing against England, where they sent the hosts packing following a convincing 33-13 victory.

Genia provided excellent service to pivot Bernard Foley, who had an excellent game, crossing the whitewash twice and racking up 28 points.

Both teams are unbeaten at the showpiece and the victor on Saturday at Twickenham will top Pool A and earn a spot in the quarter-finals against either Scotland or Japan.

"We just want to be consistent in all the things we do," said the 27-year-old.

"Rugby can change so quickly in seven days. Those two games against New Zealand showed that. That is probably driving the guys to train really well.

"It is another huge test match. Every game we have played against Wales in the last 10 outings has been very, very close. We know how hard the challenge is. It is really important for us topping the pool.

"They will do their best to slow any quick ball we can get. The breakdown is going to be a big area for the lads."

Genia hinted at the coaching class of Warren Gatland, who is sure to have a few tricks waiting up his sleeve. For example, winger George North has been picked at centre for the Welsh in an attemnpt to beef up the defence of the inside channel.

"Obviously they played exceptionally well against England and have a very good coach in Warren Gatland," added the former Reds scrum-half.

"His sides are very well drilled. They know what they want to achieve in certain parts of the field. They are a very fit team. And attention to detail is very important to him."

Genia will line up opposite Gareth Davies, whom he rates very highly.

"He has probably been one of the best half-backs of the tournament," added the number nine.

"I have enjoyed watching him play. We have to be really good around the rucks defensively because he is a good runner with the ball as well."
