Gelant ruled out for the season

Bulls fullback Warrick Gelant has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.

Gelant was also sidelined with a broken jaw earlier this year but returned to action for the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup Qualifying tournament last month.

His comeback was short-lived, however, as he then sustained the knee injury and it was confirmed that he will only return to action in 2016.

“Warrick Gelant sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament – which was repaired two weeks ago. He is expected to make a return early next year,” said Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw.

Rossouw also revealed that injured Springbok centre Jan Serfontein will be out of action for about three months.

“Jan Serfontein, as previously stated from the Springboks, has sustained a scaphoid fracture which was operated on," he added.

"Luckily it seems like his recovery will be speedier than initially expected. He is expected to be back in 12 weeks’ time."
