The Kings will be without captain Steven Sykes due to injury when they run out to face the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
Inside centre Shane Gates will lead in his place in a side that sees four changes made from the home game against the Blues last week.
"Steven has a grade one ligament tear in his shoulder that will rule him out for a week or two," Davids told reporters ahead of the fixtures.
"He took a bit of a bump against the Blues, and then on Tuesday he felt sore during training so we sent him for a scan, and unfortunately he's not ready to go."
Replacing Sykes in the XV will be Schalk Oelofse while JP Jonck is in for the injured Chris Cloete at flank. The other change to the pack sees Aidon Davis come in for CJ Velleman at number eight.
In the backline, Stefan Watermeyer is ruled out with a foot injury so JP du Plessis starts alongside captain Gates.
