Gloucester have confirmed that second row Mariano Galarza has successfully undergone shoulder surgery which will keep him out until March.
The 27-year-old Argentinian international linked up with his new club this week after representing his country in the Rugby Championship.
However, as a result of an injury sustained playing for the Pumas against Australia in the final match of the tournament in Mendoza last weekend, Galarza underwent shoulder surgery on Wednesday morning.
The operation was successful and Galarza will now follow an intensive rehabilitation programme which will enable him to return in 2015 with plenty of time to prepare for the World Cup.
Tom Savage and Tom Palmer have been Gloucester’s first-choice pairing of late, with Elliot Stooke offering back-up.
