Further setback for Ardron

Ospreys number eight Tyler Ardron has suffered a setback in his recovery from a thumb injury after it was confirmed he has had further surgery.

Ospreys’ medical team issued an update on a number of players who are currently unavailable due to injury, with Ardron heading that list.

It read: “Tyler has suffered minor complications following surgery to deal with the dislocated thumb sustained in the Ulster game in October. He had a further surgical procedure pre-Christmas and we will know more regarding his return to play progress once the latest procedure has settled.”

In other news, Bradley Davies is continuing his rehabilitation from knee surgery at the end of November under the eyes of the Welsh medical team.

Ben John is progressing well following groin surgery and will step up his return over the next couple of weeks. If all goes well, he could be looking at getting some game time against Newcastle in the Challenge Cup, or featuring in the Anglo-Welsh Cup the week after.

The update continued: “Owen Watkin is still going through rehab following an ACL reconstruction. He’s in the early stages as far as his running progression is concerned and, at the moment, it is too early to talk about his return to play.”
