Furno called up by Italy

Newcastle Falcons lock Joshua Furno has been called up by Italy ahead of their Six Nations game against Scotland.

Furno comes into the squad to replace the injured Zebre second row George Biagi, who suffered a rib fracture in the Round 2 loss to England.

Furno was one of Italy's standout performers in last year's Six Nations and re-joins the squad after recovering from injury himself.

The 26-year-old Australia-born lock, who has 35 caps, will be looking to win the vacant spot in Italy's second row alongside Marco Fuser.
