French win will spur us on – Cuthbert

Wales wing Alex Cuthbert is confident their morale-boosting win over France will see them regain the form that secured last year's Grand Slam.

Rob Howley's charges clinched a deserved 16-6 victory in Paris, a fortnight ago, to end their eight-match losing streak.

And Cuthbert feels that they can build on that result this weekend.

“We tried to play a bit of rugby against France, but in those sort of games you're not going to get many chances,” he said.

“They defended well, as we did, but when we did get that one chance we took it and ended up winning the game.

“With the confidence of getting that win and putting all those losses behind us hopefully we can play the way we did in the Six Nations last year, our game of rugby.

“Morale is really high. The victory in Paris has made things a lot easier.

“The boys have been really up for training and it's made for good preparation.

“Hopefully we are going to keep the winning run going now. The boys are really excited about this game.

“Momentum-wise we need a win in Italy on the back of the win in France.”
