Virimi Vakatawa could become the first player in France to have two contracts, one with the FFR and one with a club, according to reports.

The 24-year-old sensation has been linked by Midi Olympique with a move to ambitious Top 14 club Lyon.

Vakatawa is contracted to the FFR until 2018 and featured regularly again for France in the recent Six Nations, before now returning to the Sevens circuit ahead of Sevens World Series legs in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Joining Lyon would give Vakatawa valuable playing time in XVs and the three parties – Vakatawa, Lyon and the FFR – are due to meet in the coming days.

And should a historic agreement come about, then Vakatawa would become the first player in France on a double contract.
