France no better than Scots – Huget
France wing Yoann Huget believes there is parity between les Bleus and Scotland ahead of Saturday's game at Murrayfield.
France wing Yoann Huget believes there is parity between les Bleus and Scotland ahead of Saturday's game at Murrayfield.
Having won their first two matches France slumped to a heavy loss against Wales in Cardiff a fortnight ago.
Changes have subsequently followed as a result of injuries, ill-discipline and poor form, with seven new faces appearing in the starting XV this weekend.
“We can't pretend to ourselves that today, we're better than Scotland,” Huget told L'Equipe.
“We will start well by taking our kicking game seriously, and then we will see.
“But in any case, it's not a good idea to start taking risky shots in the opening minutes at a fiery Murrayfield.”
Discussing the inconsistencies in France's performances throughout the tournament so far, Huget stated that the team must not let small errors derails their efforts against Scotland.
“We are working hard and we have things in place, but we haven't made them work yet,” added Huget.
“When there is a delay in a ruck, it's better that our full-back Brice Dulin gets the ball back behind an organised line.
“We coped better against England – we were in a rush against Wales – and the centres took part in recovering the ball.
“But it shouldn't be the case that a single grain of sand in the wheels stops us from getting going. We need to get the ball as far forward as quickly as possible with fast accurate passes.”
