France enter the 2023 RWC race

The FFR are reportedly interested in hosting the 2023 Rugby World Cup, despite recently hosting the 2007 tournament.

Midi Olympique understand that boss Pierre Camou proposed the idea to the FFR's governing body during a recent committee meeting on March 27.

Camou's proposal was put to a vote with a unanimous outcome according to the report, signalling France's interest to enter the race.

Part of the application will no doubt mention the already sanctioned construction of a new national stadium to be built in Evry, 36km from the centre of Paris, with a potential capacity of 82,000 on completion in 2020.

France's letter of intent has been sent to World Rugby, following the lead of Ireland, South Africa and Italy as the race to host the tournament hots up.

The winner will be revealed in May 2017.
