The judging panel have made up their minds and four of the best performing coaches in the Premiership season have been nominated for the prestigious director of rugby award.
Mark McCall will be looking to win the award for the third occasion having already won it twice with Saracens, while Exeter Chiefs’ Rob Baxter, Wasps’ Dai Young and Sale Sharks’ Steve Diamond form the chasing pack.
Phil Winstanley the Rugby Director at Premiership Rugby said that the judging panel had a tough job in selecting the four best candidates for the award and reiterated the challenges which coaches had to overcome with the Rugby World Cup in November last year delaying the start of the season.
“In Aviva Premiership Rugby, we have some of the best coaches in the world so the judging panel was handed a tough job once again," he said.
"This season was the most testing in Premiership Rugby history for our Directors of Rugby and Head Coaches with the late start due to the Rugby World Cup and the challenge of back to back competition in what is already one of the most competitive and intense environments in world rugby.
"This quartet and all their players have made a significant contribution to a compelling season and fully deserve to make this short list."
