Leinster and Ireland have been struck by a blow after it was confirmed that Sean O'Brien will miss four months of rugby because of shoulder surgery.

The PRO12 side's coach Joe Schmidt said the 26-year-old, who dislocated his shoulder in a recent win over Ulster, is done for the season.

“Sean had an operation last Friday and he's likely to be out for four months, maybe beyond that,” he said on Friday's Late Late Show in Ireland.

O'Brien could've played his last game for Leinster as his future remains in the air, with Toulon one club rumoured to be chasing his signature.
