Bath coach Mike Ford admits to being surprised that Semesi Rokoduguni was left out by England for Saturday’s November finale against Australia.
The Wallabies fixture once again sees the wing allowed to return to club duty, with Jonny May, Anthony Watson and Marland Yarde selected.
And that has left Ford somewhat bemused by the decision, with the Bath head coach also telling the Bath Chronicle that Kyle Eastmond’s absence from the midfield is another that left him shocked.
“I am surprised that Roko and Kyle aren’t included. They were both unlucky to pick up injuries at the wrong time,” he told the website on Thursday.
“Given who England are playing this weekend and given they are fit, I’m surprised they are not in the 23. They’d be well-matched against Australia.
“Stuart Lancaster has been really good with the communication about them, and we know that it’s a long season.
“If they play well at Bath over the next two months then they have still got a good chance of getting back in for the Six Nations.”
He added: “Selection is difficult when you are under the pump, and England are under the pump.
“We are sitting here on the outside saying ‘pick this side’, but it’s not simple. You have to be there in the inside to understand everything that’s going on.”
