The Western Force have confirmed the signing of forward Richie Arnold for the 2016 Super Rugby season.
Arnold is the identical twin brother of Brumbies lock Rory Arnold, though Richie is a few kilograms heavier. At 208cm and 127kgs, it is a big signing in more ways than one for the Perth-based franchise.
Richie and his brother are the second tallest locks in Super Rugby after the Golden Lions' JP du Preez, who stands at 209cm.
Michael Foley, Western Force head coach, is excited to see the lock take the step up from the National Rugby Championship.
"At 208cm, what stood out about Richie during this year's NRC was his athleticism and skill," Foley said.
"It's an exciting opportunity for him to capitalise on his raw talent. He has the ability to develop into a player that can make a real impact in Super Rugby."
Meanwhile, Arnold is hoping to make the most of his opportunity at the franchise.
"I'm really excited about starting with the Force," quipped the 25-year-old, who ran out for Queensland County during the NRC.
"I've met a few of the guys and it seems like the group is really tight and there's a great culture here.
"I did have a thought that this opportunity may have passed me by, so to now get that chance makes you really determined and motivated to make the most of it."
