Ospreys midfield back Kieron Fonotia has told Samoa that he is available to be considered for international rugby for them.
The 28-year-old, who played for the Crusaders from 20-14 to 2016, qualifies for Samoa through his father’s family links.
But if Samoa don’t come calling there is still a chance of potential consideration for Wales on residency grounds when he has completed three years in the principality.
“If we get to three years and I haven’t played for them [Samoa], Wales will be an option, but at the minute it’s looking like Samoa,” he told the South Wales Evening Post.
“I’m 28 years old as well. If three years come round and you don’t know if you’re going to make it or not, not many people make debuts at 31.”
