Wallaby fly-half Bernard Foley says playing England again in 2016 has always been at the back of their minds.

Australia have already played England three times this year during their three Test series in Australia where England whitewashed the home side. But now Australia get an opportunity to get revenge over the English in their own back garden.

"It's always been in the back of our minds, or there's always been that talking of getting to play England at home, and there's no bigger motivation to finish off the year and to finish strong," Foley told the Sydney Morning Herald.

"It's going to be very important to finish off well. We don't play another Test for seven months and you're only as good as your last performance. So that's a lot of motivation for us to go out there and play our best Test of the year."

When asked if how Australia's game has developed since June, Foley said they had matured.

"Matured's probably the best word. A lot of the guys were on debut or in Test footy for their first setup back in June. Just that experience and just as a squad being able to gel and build combinations, even just spend time together, has been massive for us. This year's been very character building for this side.

"We probably got lulled into carrying the ball too much, or getting caught at breakdowns, getting caught at rucks.

"It's just being smart in how we engage in the play and we just pick and choose our times. In the June series, they came with a pretty simple but well-executed plan and did a really good job for them. So for us it's just managing the game as best we can and allowing us to probably be more accurate."
