Waratahs full-back Israel Folau is set to see plenty of ball in midfield in Saturday's semi-final against the Highlanders in Sydney.
With star inside centre Kurtley Beale sidelined with a quadriceps injury, the defending champions' coach Michael Cheika has been forced to rejig his backline.
Beale's absence means Matt Carraro will wear the number 12 shirt against the Highlanders but Cheika revealed that Folau will also be popping up in the second playmaking role.
"Obviously Matt is not the same type of player as Kurtley is but Israel has been picking up a bit of that slack around the second playmaker role," he said.
"We just share it around a little bit more as opposed to it being two dedicated guys and go from there."
Highlanders boss Jamie Joseph believes Beale's absence won't change too much for his team but admitted the Wallaby's injury was a big setback for the Waratahs.
"We're really an us-focused team and that's why we can play consistently, because we put a lot our preparation into ourselves," he said.
