Toulouse forwards coach William Servat insists that departing Leicester fly-half Toby Flood “has not yet signed” at the French club.

Toulouse forwards coach William Servat insists that departing Leicester fly-half Toby Flood “has not yet” signed at the French club.

On Saturday, Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill confirmed that Flood will leave the English champions at the end of the season. Widespread reports have linked the England international with a move to Toulouse.

On Friday, Flood tweeted that no decision would be made on his future until January and Servat's comments this weekend suggest that a transfer to the four-time European champions is far from a done deal.

“Toby Flood has still not signed with Toulouse,” said Servat after Saturday's narrow home win over Bordeaux-Bègles.

“I do not know everything that happens at the club, but for now, he has not sign here.”

Reports have named Flood as the replacement for ex-French international Lionel Beauxis, who is out of contract in June, but Servat insists that the 2007 Six Nations winner is still a key player in the squad.

“I'm sure [Beauxis] will be a Toulousain next year,” said the former international hooker about his fly-half, who kicked all 18 points against UBB.

“He is a player who was prominent on many Stade Toulousain matches and he is coming back, and how!” added Servat.

If Toulouse is indeed his next club, then Flood would compete for the fly-half berth with promising 22-year-old Jean-Pascal Barraque.

Toulouse's current first choice, former All Black fly-half Luke McAlister, who is out injured till around February, has yet to be offered a renewal of his contract, which expires at the end of this season.
