The Griquas have been forced into five changes for their Currie Cup encounter with the Golden Lions on Saturday.
Dean Grant replaces injured fly-half Francois Brummer while back rowers Carel Greeff and Jaco Nepgen come into the pack.
Wayne Stevens starts in the centres and will take over the captaincy from Brummer, while the final change sees prop Janro va Niekerk start at loosehead.
Griquas coach Hawes Fourie was missing a number of regulars after last week’s defeat to Western Province, including usual number eight Burger Schoeman, but he has urged those coming into to take their chance.
“We have a couple of changes due to injury,” Griquas coach Hawies Fourie said.
“It is never something that you want, but it is almost always something you have to deal with”.
“We’ve lost some stalwarts, but it means that a couple of guys get the chance to prove their worth.”
