New Zealand tighthead prop Charlie Faumuina could require neck surgery just three months from the Rugby World Cup.
Newstalk ZB report that the Blues player suffered a neck strain in the side's fixture on May 2.
Faumuina was outstanding for the All Blacks in 2014 but minor surgery would see him left out of New Zealand's first training squad to be announced in the near future.
The 28-year-old has 27 caps and a try to his name for New Zealand having built up a healthy rivarly with Owen Franks for the number three shirt in the All Blacks scrum.
His absence may hand a chance to Nepo Laulala of the Crusaders, although official confirmation of any surgery for Faumuina is yet to be made public.
