Farrell avoids ban

Owen Farrell has escaped a ban for his high tackle on Anthony Watson, receiving a citing commissioner warning instead.

The Saracens fly-half was penalised in the opening minutes of the Premiership final for the hit on Watson, which saw the Bath full-back have leave the field.

However referee Wayne Barnes decided not to issue a card, with Farrell going on to win the man of the match award in his team's 28-16 success.

Bath coach Mike Ford felt Farrell should have been sent off for the tackle, but a citing commissioner warning is the equivalent of a yellow card after the game.

"Farrell (Saracens) has received a citing commissioner warning (level 1 citing) for a dangerous tackle, contrary to law 10.4(e)," the statement read.
