Exeter thump Leicester at Welford Road

Exeter secured an impressive 34-15 bonus-point victory over Leicester in their Premiership clash at Welford Road on Friday.

This win takes the Chiefs just a point behind league leaders Wasps in the table, with the Coventry side facing Bath away on Saturday.

Leicester in fact took the lead early on when loosehead prop Michele Rizzo went over but then crossings from back-row Kai Horstmann, a penalty try and scrum-half Stuart Townsend saw Exeter go in 27-8 in front.

Leicester hit back with a try from France international Maxime Mermoz on 47 minutes but when Chiefs lock Mitch Lees went over on the hour mark, the bonus-point was secured and Exeter held on for the five points.
