Ospreys lock Ian Evans has been suspended for 12 weeks after being sent off for stamping in the Heineken Cup game against Leinster.

Ospreys second-row Ian Evans has been suspended for twelve weeks after being sent off for stamping in their recent game against Leinster.

European Rugby Cup confirmed the suspension on Thursday, with the ban seeing the lock miss out on defending the Six Nations with Wales.

Evans was sent off by French referee Romain Poite in the 20th minute of the Pool 1 game for stamping on Leinster second-row Mike McCarthy in contravention of Law 10.4(b), which states “a player must not stamp or trample on an opponent”.
