EP Kings pay dispute over?

Date published: September 4 2015

The EP Kings pay dispute appears to be over after the players were paid their outstanding salaries this week.

The South Africa Rugby Players Association (SARPA) had been due to meet with both sides to try to resolve the issue, but the unpaid wages have now been paid to the players.

The move would appear to come too late for this weekend's clash with the Golden Lions, with a host of first team regulars missing the game, but SARPA official Nyaniso Son explained the matter looks to be resolved.

"Well upon arriving at the meeting venue the players informed us that the salaries had been paid and that everything had been sorted out," said Son.

"The Kings made payment to the players and the players are happy but of course we will then sit down with players when we've got time just to give them some sort of advice on what to do if this should happen again."

Despite this, the Kings have made ten changes to their starting line-up for the clash with the Golden Lions, with a host of regular starters missing including skipper Luke Watson.

Tim Whitehead will captain the side, while fly-half Karlo Aspeling is one of the few survivors from the team that lost narrowly to the Sharks last time out.
