Steffon Armitage’s future involvement with England seems more and more likely, with the Toulon star set for a World Cup recall.
The Times report that Armitage is set to be included in England’s enlarged squad ahead of the Rugby World Cup later this year.
Armitage hasn’t played for England since he won five caps before moving to France, with the RFU only willing to pick players based abroad in ‘exceptional circumstances’.
According to the report, a World Cup is viewed as one of those circumstances by the England management.
Armitage will not be involved in the Six Nations but has performed effectively for Toulon at the base of the scrum during his time in France.
Last season he was named European Player of the Year, after an exceptional season in which Toulon won a Top 14 and European double.
