Northampton centre Luther Burrell is a doubt for England’s November Tests after sustaining a hand injury in the Champions Cup.

Burrell was banged up in the 34-6 win over the Ospreys at Franklin’s Gardens.

The England centre came back out for the second half but was soon withdrawn when it became appear he couldn’t continue.

England are already without Manu Tuilagi for the matches against New Zealand, South Africa, Samoa and Australia.

Burrell partnered Billy Twelvetrees throughout the 2014 Six Nations.

“Luther has banged his hand. It’s very sore and he’s struggling to grip,” said Mallinder.

“He’ll have to go for an X-ray on that,”

“He gave it a chance and put some tape on at half-time. Fingers crossed there’s no permanent damage.

“It could be anything – it was a bone in his hand.”
