England Sevens head coach Simon Amor has named an unchanged squad for a fourth successive tournament when they play in Sydney this weekend.
Currently third on the World Rugby Sevens Series, they have been drawn in Pool A with Kenya, Japan and South Africa, who won in Wellington.
In surpassing 1000 series points, last weekend was a milestone tournament for captain Tom Mitchell but England’s seventh-place finish was disappointing after winning in Cape Town and finishing third in Dubai.
England flyer Dan Norton also has 19 tries this season and is second on the World Series leaderboard.
“We had three good results in the pool stages in New Zealand but didn’t play to the standard we are capable of when it mattered on day two,” said head coach Amor.
“Our technical accuracy in both attack and defence was not at the level it can be. We have worked hard on this here in Sydney and the squad are committed to taking their opportunity this weekend.
“We had a number of players who were returning to full-fitness and will be better for the game time.
“The guys have trained well in tough sessions over recent months and we are confident that with more clinical performances, coupled with their strong team-first attitude, this group can make England proud and be back on the podium.”
