England let down by ‘other countries’

England's Mike Brown and Ben Youngs were both frustrated by the lack of fight shown by Italy and Scotland on the final day of the Six Nations.

The two struggling sides both shifted a huge amount of points to help Ireland and Wales boost their title chances, with Ireland then retaining their title.

England meanwhile had to work away a spirited effort from les Bleus, with Brown praising the opposition for their character.

"Massive credit to the French team for the way they fronted up for this game and for the way they played, compared to maybe a few other countries," said Brown to reporters after the match.

"Full credit to them and the way they turned up and made a game of it. They could have easily folded.

"Fair play to them, they played a game. Well, I don't need to saying anything else. Everyone knows it."

Youngs added that he would be asking his club team-mates, which include Italy captain Leonardo Ghiraldini, about what happened when he returned to Leicester.

"France turned up didn't they? I don't know what happened to Italy or Scotland. It's typical isn't it?" added Youngs.

"I'll have to speak to my Leicester colleagues about that on Monday to see what was going on."
