Tigers flanker Williams breaks arm

England have suffered yet another injury setback after flanker Mike Williams broke his arm, his club Leicester Tigers revealed on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old, who had moved up the international pecking order after James Haskell, Jack Clifford and Sam Jones picked up injuries in recent weeks, is now also on the treatment table over the November Test season after suffering a broken arm for the third time in a year.

"It is bitterly disappointing for Mike with England on the horizon," Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill told BBC Sport.

"Unfortunately he's re-fractured his arm that he broke last year. It will heal in 8-12 weeks.

"It's the same arm and fracture site. Historically, these things are notoriously difficult to clear up. They have a history of coming back. They are very difficult injuries to shake off.

"We have done all the right things and he has done everything he can do but it is purely bad luck."

England will take on South Africa, Fiji, Argentina and Australia at Twickenham during the end-of-year internationals.
