‘England can break our record’ – Hansen

Date published: December 14 2016

New Zealand head coach Steve Hansen believes England could break his side’s record for consecutive Test wins by a tier one nation.

The All Blacks currently hold the record with 18 consecutive wins while England are on a 14-Test unbeaten run and Hansen admitted that Eddie Jones’ side can topple his team’s record during the upcoming Six Nations.

“Of course they can, they’ve got the mental fortitude to continue to get up every week and play well,” he told RadioSport.

“They’ve got games against Italy and you’d expect them to beat Italy and I’d expect them to beat Scotland so they’ve then got the Irish game, the French game and the Welsh game.

“They’ll be toughies, but we know they’re capable of beating them. They went through last year undefeated so it’s there for them to have a crack at.”
