Hika Elliot is to rejoin the Chiefs as an injury replacement for Nathan Harris after recovering from a neck injury.

The All Black hooker missed the whole of the 2014 season after suffering the injury on the Maori All Blacks’ end of year tour.

That allowed Harris to step up in his place, and the 22-year-old did enough to earn a place in the New Zealand squad for their November tour.

He made his debut against the USA in Chicago, but after scoring an early try, he was forced off with an ankle injury which required surgery.

Harris is expected to be out for six months, leaving a spot open for Elliot.

“Hika played some heartland rugby and came through that well. He is in great shape and keen to get back into to pre-season training so we are rapt to have him back,” said Chiefs coach Dave Rennie.
