Glasgow Warriors fly-half Finn Russell is expected to miss the opening games of the PRO12 season according to Gregor Townsend.
Russell suffered a head injury in the PRO12 semi-final last season following a nasty clash with his own team-mate Zander Ferguson.
Townsend, the head coach at Glasgow Warriors, revealed that Russell is back in light training but that every precaution is being taken with his return.
"We don't expect him to play in the first two or three games of the season," Townsend told BBC Scotland.
"We'll just see what happens over the next few weeks. He's working on skills, he's very keen to be involved.
"Everything has gone well so far with his recovery, but obviously we're being very cautious on when he can come back to training with the team and also full training.
"So far his progress has been really good."
