Veteran Springbok scrum-half Fourie du Preez is set to play one competitive match in Japan before rejoining the Springbok squad.
The 33-year-old is heading back to his club Suntory Goliath in the next two weeks for a pre-season training camp and has asked to play in a competitive fixture before coming back to South Africa for a Bok training camp in July.
Du Preez has been out of action for the past three months since the end of the Japanese season and after his club were knocked out in the country's cup competition.
There were rumours that he would return to the Bulls during his off period but Du Preez revealed that although the Bulls did come back to him after initial discussions, the two parties couldn’t reach an agreement.
“Ideally I would have liked to play a few games, but their tour was at the end of the season and I decided it was more important to stay with my family, my time there is past,” he told Supersport.
“Part of my decision was that I should do what I believe gives myself the best chance of playing international rugby again.”
