The 2015 Super Rugby season may be Naka Drotske's last in charge of the Cheetahs according to reports in South Africa.

Franco Smith, who spent three years previously with Treviso, is due to be announced as the Cheetahs' new Currie Cup and Super Rugby coach this week according to Rapport.

Smith has had success with Shimlas, leading them to the Varsity Cup title, and was set to work with the Cheetahs backline in this year's Currie Cup anyway.

However by taking the head coaching Currie Cup role he is also expected to replace Drotske, whose deal expires next year.

Drotske has coached the Cheetahs since 2008 in Super Rugby but with Smith being in demand elsewhere, the Cheetahs have opted to tie him in by offering him the Currie Cup and Super Rugby head coaching jobs.

The Cheetahs best finish in Super Rugby under Drotske was 6th in 2013, with the side coming 10th or lower in every other season.
