New Zealand call-up Anton Lienert-Brown said it was “a dream come true” to play for the Test outfit in their warm-up fixtures on Friday.
Lienert-Brown, who starred for the Chiefs in Super Rugby this season, played at outside centre in the 40 minute match against Counties Manukau.
The All Blacks had earlier beaten Northland 73-0 before Lienert-Brown and his line-up defeated the Steelers 35-7 in front of their home supporters.
“It was a dream come true,” Lienert-Brown told NZ Newswire at full-time.
“At the start of the year, my goal was to get a regular starting spot for the Chiefs and, for this to come out of that, is just amazing.”
New Zealand head coach Steve Hansen added that he would not be reading too much into the wins ahead of their game against the Wallabies.
“There’s not so much pressure when you’re playing Counties and Northland versus playing Australia,” he said.
“It’s a good opportunity to get a feel for it, and we’ll just have to take our time with him.”
