Newport Gwent Dragons' fly-half Jason Tovey has joined Edinburgh on loan until the end of May.

The 26-year-old, who also has experience at full-back and centre, is a former Wales U20 player who has spent the majority of his professional career with the Dragons.

Tovey spent two years with the Dragons Academy and made his professional debut against the Ospreys in April 2008. In May 2010 he was voted Young Player of the Year at the Welsh professional players awards.

The versatile back became the first ever Dragons player to get a try hat-trick in a competitive match, against Ulster in 2009, and then broke the record for points scored in a match against the Ospreys in the LV= Cup in January 2010 with two conversions and seven penalties to his name.

He had a brief spell at Cardiff Blues in season 2012/13 before returning to Dragons where he's ammassed 163 caps and 951 points.
