Western Province were dealt a double blow with the news that scrum-half Godlen Masimla and centre EW Viljoen were injured in Saturday's win over the Pumas at Newlands.
Masimla injured his ankle in the 31-23 triumph while Viljoen is struggling with a knee problem.
WP forwards coach Russell Winter set it is unlikely that Masimla, who has also been struggling with concussion this season, will play in this year's tournament again.
"I think Godlen is going to miss out with quite a bad ankle injury, which might keep out for a couple of weeks," he told IOL.
"Unfortunately, when it rains, it pours for some of these players. They work so hard to get back, and then they get back… It’s tough to come back in a game like that as you are not battle-weary and in danger of picking up an injury.
"But the guys train hard and are physically up for it, so I guess it’s just the nature of the beast, I suppose."
Meanwhile, the prognosis on Viljoen's injury is not so good and involves his patella.
"I’m not sure if it is dislocated or not," added Winter.
