Bath back Ollie Devoto could leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.
The exciting prospect has been linked with a move to Exeter Chiefs, with Wasps reportedly also interested in signing the 22-year-old.
Bath have offered Devoto a contract to stay at The Rec where he is up against England centres Kyle Eastmond and Jonathan Joseph for a place in the starting XV.
Devoto is bound to see more action when Joseph is away with England during the Six Nations but Bath hope to keep him long-term as well beyond the end of this season.
"We've offered Ollie a contract and he is going to wait until January to weigh up his options and make a decision," Ford told the Bath Chronicle.
"We're trying to impress on him that this is the best place for him," added Ford.
"He's competing against the likes of Kyle, but if trains well every day and we're winning, he can get selected for a top-four Premiership side and then the chances of England selection are greater."
