Western Province captain Juan de Jongh will wear the number 12 jersey during this year's Currie Cup tournament.
That was the word from the defending champions' coach John Dobson, who said he wants De Jongh closer to his forwards and due to the emergence of WP's other outside centres.
"At times, I'll need Juan's leadership closer to the engine room," he told Netwerk 24.
"We also have two very good outside centres with the potential to one day play Test rugby – Huw Jones and Johnny Kotze."
Dobson also revealed that Jaco Taute will also be considered at inside centre.
"My choice at inside centre will depend in the specific challenge we're facing," he added.
Taute started at inside centre in last year's Currie Cup Final and can also play at full-back.
De Jongh, who played at outside centre for the Stormers in Super Rugby this year, is not unfamiliar with the inside centre position. He played there for the Stormers in 2010 and 2014..
