Ospreys hero Sam Davies said he felt an overwhelming sense of relief after kicking his side to victory over Zebre in Parma on Friday.

The replacement pivot kicked all the Welsh region’s points in a hard-fought 15-14 victory and his 73rd minute penalty sealed a fifth straight win for the league leaders.

“This is always a tough place to come because Zebre are a growing team,” Davies told Wales Online.

“Thankfully, I went on and was able to stay mature. Fortunately, I put in a half-decent performance. I was switched on and was waiting to go.

“I don’t think any of the Welsh teams won here last season, so we’ll take it and now we’re five from five in the league.”

The Ospreys battled during the early stages and Zebre took the lead thanks to a Giulio Bisegni try after just five minutes.

The game swung in the visitors’ favour thanks to the introduction of Davies – for the injured Dan Biggar – Rhys Webb and Alun Wyn Jones. A late Ospreys surge resulted in Davies stepping up to kick over and secure victory.
