Scarlets will welcome back Wales centre Jonathan Davies for their PRO12 opener against Munster on Saturday.
Davies and lock Jake Ball, who is also on a national dual contract, will get game time at Parc y Scarlets, coach Wayne Pivac confirmed.
"We have had a good chat with the Wales coaching staff to work out what we are doing in the first part of the season (with NDC players)," Pivac told the Evening Post.
"Certainly Jon and Jake are in the thick of things in training and looking forward to kicking the season off with us. We will monitor it, we have a plan through to Christmas and just be sensible when we use them and how many games on the trot we play them.
"Whether they are dual contracted or not, we have to look after all our international boys. A piece of paper doesn't mean you should be looked after more than somebody else. We are in discussions about how many games all of our international players should play."
Scarlets will have trips to Edinburgh and Ulster and a home clash with defending champions Connacht to follow the opener against Munster.
"You look at our draw and common sense dictates," added Pivac. "We have a pretty tough start, we have requested they (Davies and Ball) are available and they will be available this weekend which is great."
