The Ospreys got out of jail as they scraped to a 15-14 win away at Zebre, making it five wins from five in the Guinness PRO12.

Sam Davies kicked all of the Ospreys’ points but they were pushed all the way by a Zebre side who had picked up a first win of the season last time out against Ulster.

Davies kicked two penalties for the Welsh region in the first half, but it was the home team that went into the break ahead through Giulio Bisegni’s try and Gonzalo Garcia’s three-pointer.

Garcia added a pair of penalties in the second period, but three further efforts by the Ospreys’ pivot snatched a dramatic win.

The Italian outfit came into this encounter buoyed by their shock 13-6 victory over Ulster the previous week and, with that result behind them, they were quickly out of the blocks.

It took just four minutes for the hosts to get on the board when centre Bisegni touched down to give them the lead.

Davies, on for the injured Dan Biggar, reduced the arrears to 5-3, but the home side continued to scrap and cause problems at the breakdown.

Morgan Allen was penalised for not releasing and Garcia kicked the resultant opportunity to take Zebre 8-3 ahead.

But Steve Tandy’s men, who have impressed early in the campaign, were always in contention and a second Davies’ three-pointer brought the Ospreys to within touching distance at the interval.

However, that five-point cushion was restored three minutes into the second period through the booming boot of the Italian side’s centre.

The Ospreys were presenting chances for their fly-half, though, and Davies, an astute kicker himself, wasn’t going to miss many as the stand-off added his third from the tee.

Giulio Toniolatti was then sin-binned for Zebre as the Welsh region increased the intensity.

Although the visiting pivot was awry with the resulting chance, he was on target soon after as they went in front for the first time in the match.

Garcia regained the Italian outfit’s lead, but Davies’ fifth penalty somehow saw the away side over the line.
