Wales and Cardiff Blues winger Alex Cuthbert is hungry to continue a winning run in the Heineken Cup against Toulon this weekend.

After their embarrassing opening performance against Exeter, the Blues have gone on to win their next three matches in Pool 2 of this year's tournament.

Their streak includes defeating Toulon at home, giving Cuthbert hope ahead of facing the European champions for a second time on Saturday.

Eager to impress, the 23-year-old – who has 11 tries in 16 games in the competition – wants the Blues to put in a performance that they can be proud of in Nice.

“I'm looking forward to it and I can't wait to play down there,” Cuthbert told the Blues website.

“When you play against them there is an expectation that they will get the win, but we got the win at home. It is important that we confidence from that.

“We need to ensure that when opportunities come up we utilise them. Watching the Toulon versus Exeter game, the Chiefs had a lot of chances and they took a couple of them and were still in the game.

“You have to look forward to playing the best team in Europe – you can't be afraid of it.

“We got that result at home, which I am sure was unexpected by a lot of people. I just want to put in a good performance, contribute to the game and help get a win.

“We know we beat them at home and I am sure Toulon will be looking to correct that and get one back on us. But we have out ourselves in a good position in the group.

“We had a good feeling when we went down to Exeter, as it was the first Heineken Cup game, but unfortunately we didn't really turn up on that day.

“That match was followed by the two Glasgow Warriors games back to back, it's not easy to get a win up there but we did that and we need to keep that form going.

“We are hungry in the Heineken Cup; we have that sniff of the quarter finals. We want to do ourselves proud.”
