The Crusaders are set to face the Chiefs in Christchurch on Friday minus centre Ryan Crotty, who is sidelined with concussion.
Crotty suffered a head knock in his side's 25-20 loss to the Highlanders at AMI Stadium at the weekend.
Dan Carter is set to return to the seven-time champions' starting line-up at inside centre against the Chiefs to replace his fellow All Black.
Crotty's absence will be lightened by the return of All Blacks prop Wyatt Crockett and lock Luke Romano, who were given a break for the Highlanders' match.

The Crusaders will be determined to return to the victory trail against the Chiefs, who thrashed them 40-16 in Hamilton in Round Three.
Friday's match is a crucial one for the Crusaders, who have been inconsistent this season, winning four and losing four of their eight matches so far.
They are in fourth spot in the New Zealand conference, 11 points adrift of the Hurricanes, who are also the the competition's pacesetters.
