Aaron Cruden is set to make his return to action off the bench on Sunday when Manawatu host Hawke’s Bay in the ITM Cup.
The All Black fly-half was left out of the New Zealand squad for the last two matches of the Rugby Championship after missing his flight to Argentina following a night out, leaving Beauden Barrett to start Saturday’s win over the Pumas.
He will also have to watch from the sidelines when Steve Hansen’s side take on South Africa in Johannesburg this weekend, although he is expected to return to Test action for the Bledisloe Cup game with Australia on October 18.
In the meantime he will link up with his provincial side Manawatu to get some game time, and is expected to come off the bench in the game against the Magpies.
“He felt uncomfortable about starting and could only get to us on Friday for training,” Manawatu coach Jason O’Halloran told the Manawatu Standard.
“On Monday and Tuesday he had a few things to take care of.”
