All Blacks fly-half Aaron Cruden has been sidelined from Saturday's Test against Argentina in Napier due to a chest injury.

According to a TVNZ report Beauden Barrett will wear the number 10 jesey against los Pumas although nothing has been confirmed yet as All Blacks coach Steve Hansen is set to announce his team on Thursday.

Barrett has played off the replacements bench in 19 of his 21 Tests since his debut in 2012.

The Hurricanes pivot's previous starts for New Zealand were at full-back, against Italy in 2012, and Japan in 2013.

Cruden's injury is a blow as he was in superb form in New Zealand's 51-20 victory over Australia in Auckland two weeks ago. He sustained his chest muscle injury during that Test.
