Aaron Cruden is confident of being ready for Saturday's clash with South Africa as he recovers from a pectoral injury.

The All Black fly-half missed the win over Argentina, although Steve Hansen had always expected Cruden to be back to face South Africa.

It remains to be seen whether he will come straight back into the starting lineup if fit, as Beauden Barrett looked good against the Pumas although he struggled from the kicking tee.

A win for New Zealand would leave them within touching distance of another Rugby Championship title, and Cruden is sure he'll be ready to go.

“They'll [the team doctor and physios] be really clear in the plan that they want me to go through this week,” Cruden said.

“If I do pass whatever test that is needed, I'm 100 percent confident in my ability to go out there and do a job in the weekend.

“The pecs are feeling good.

“They responded really well to treatment last week. I'm doing a little bit of rehab, so we'll make a decision in coming days.

“The Springboks are big men right across the field. We're usually pretty sore afterwards.”
